Service Description

What is Myofascial Therapy? Fascia is a tough connective tissue spread throughout the body in an uninterrupted three dimensional web from head to foot. Bodily trauma due to stress, overuse or injury can create a fascia binding pressures of approximately 2,000 pounds per square inch on pain sensitive structures that do not show up in many of the standard tests (x-rays, CAT scans, electromyography, etc.) This fibrous web can clamp down and compromise muscles, blood vessels, structures and organs which can cause pain and discomfort within the body. Myofascial Release focuses on unwinding and releasing fascia restrictions and bodily tension to encourage soothing and regulation of the central nervous system thereby reducing pain symptoms. What happens in a Myofascial Session? Myofascial Release is a safe and very effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into the connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion. The treatment plan normally consists of multiple visits with the goal of instructing each patient in self treatment to enhance their strength and improve flexibility, posture and body movement awareness. Each Myofascial Release Treatment session will be performed without oils and an appropriate pressure will be applied to facilitate release of restrictions in the body.
