Women’s Holistic Self-Care | Pre-motherhood through menopause

“When we’re healthy, we are able to live life to the fullest and truly flourish. When it comes to being healthy, I believe in prevention first” - Christiane Northrup, M.D.

Supporting women through the physical, mental and spiritual transitional stages of motherhood and beyond is my passion.

Women have many transitional stages in their life from early adolescence to adult-hood that require guidance and support along the way. It’s my privilege to support my female clients and give them the tools to embrace many changes that occur in your body through body awareness exercises with yoga, mediation and various holistic bodywork modalities that can give you the necessary supportive framework to unleash your powerful goddess.

An internet-based survey recently found a correlation between stress and women’s health in relationship to hormonal imbalances and menopause symptoms — the greater the stress, the greater the symptoms. It only makes sense to implement as many stress-reducing activities as possible, which leads us to mindfulness practices and holistic modalities that help support your nervous system.

Some signs of stress are:

  • feeling alone;

  • not feeling present with your body;

  • feeling empty;

  • taking care of everyone else and not yourself;

  • feeling vulnerable and needing a safe space to heal; and

  • experiencing pain and discomfort in your body.

These are just a few things to consider. I bet if you sit quietly for a moment you could come up with some more things that you would like to address! Stress is the #1 reason we feel anxious and sad. Managing the stress is really about taking the time to be with yourself and learning how to nurture yourself. Self care is definitely a necessity.

Prenatal CranioSacral Therapy and Massage
In the skilled hands of an advanced practitioner and with nurturing touch this unique in-dividual session can be very powerful. Supporting each mother’s autonomic nervous system during this transitional phase is a great formula in building foundation aiding babies arrival and the subsequent adjustment phase for the whole family. Studies indicate that massage therapy performed during pregnancy can reduce stress, anxiety, decrease symptoms of depression, relieve muscle aches and joint pains, and improve labor outcomes. When pregnant mother is relaxed her body will create healthy blood flow to the uterus, placenta and fetus.

Prenatal Private Yoga
Private prenatal yoga is a gentle way to enhance body awareness and honor each mother's changing body and growing baby. Breath awareness along with gentle yoga poses enhances the ability to respond in the moment under stress to help relieve the discomforts of pregnancy, as well as amplify the joy and excitement of this special time. Private prenatal yoga helps you gain confidence, strength, and endurance while better preparing you physically and emotionally for labor and delivery.

Post-Natal Care for Mom
The fourth trimester, navigating your life as a new parent can be overwhelming as you immediately step into a new and very different phase between birth and twelve weeks postpartum during which your baby is adjusting to the world and you are adjusting to baby.

During the first three months of babies life, your baby will be doing a lot of growing, changing, and developing - all while needing extra attention from you. At the same time, if you are a new mom recovering from childbirth, you are going through enormous changes as well. This period involves navigating through many changes, both emotionally and physically for you and your partner as you learn how to care for baby and function as a family unit. All of it can be a lot to process and adjust to, which is why it’s important to ask for help, get some support and make time for self-care.

New Mother Reset Session
CranioSacral Therapy, Myofascial Release pelvic floor therapy and various holistic modalities can help with the healing process post labor and delivery. This session will provide a nurturing environment for mom to completely surrender, relax and help reset her autonomic nervous system. When mom feels supported and less anxious she can be more present with her newborn which offers a beautiful foundation for babies social development.
